As former operators of three Budget Truck Rental locations we know all about them! We know the average loading and unloading completion times, the miles per gallon acheived and the size to choose based on your home.
10' Budget Truck
This is the smallest box truck offered by any truck rental company and should only be used on very small moves. Primarily for studio apartments or a one bedroom apartment with minimal furniture.
The Good News: Gets about 10 MPG and is easy to maneuver
The Bad News: 10' trucks are rarely used and can be hard to find. They also have wheel wells that stick out making it hard to load larger items.
16' Budget Truck
This is the most common rental in the self service industry. The 16' truck allows for a standard 1-2 bedroom apartment or a small townhome.
The Good News: Gets 8-10 MPG and is still fairly easy to maneuver. There are no wheel wells so the cargo space is flat.
The Bad News: If you cannot fit into a 16' truck you will need to upgrade to a 24' truck.
24' Budget Truck
This is the largest truck Budget offers, two feet shy of the largest available which is a 26'. The 24' truck is designed for single family homes and townhomes, most 2000 square foot homes can fit into this size truck.
The Good News: All Budget Trucks are automatic making it easier to drive.
The Bad News: If you're unfamiliar with large trucks this might be hard for you to maneuver. It gets about 5 MPG and requires diesel fuel.
Tip: Don't feel comfortable driving your truck? You can hire Elite Moving Labor to provide a driver for you!
