Packing & Loading Services

Movers to Load your Rented Moving Truck, POD or Trailer

Loading your rental truck, freight truck, trailer or storage container is the hardest part of a DIY move. It's important to have experienced movers available to correctly load the items, both to prevent damage during transit as well as maximize your available space. Not having enough available space will create numerous additional hassles and should be avoided, especially if you had sufficient space but couldn't make all of the items fit due to improper loading.

Elite Moving LaborTM provides an affordable and effective solution for the packing and loading of household goods. Based on the size of your move and your specific needs we will staff a team of 2-4 professional movers to handle the loading process.

The Loading Process

  1. Upon arrival the supervisor will do a walk thru of your home to understand the layout and develop a plan of action. At this time you can provide information about items that are not going or that have special instructions.
  2. If you are not fully packed the crew will usually begin by providing packing assistance. If any furniture requires dis-assembly it is typically handled at this point.
  3. Loading usually begins with the largest and heaviest pieces of furniture. Assuming the customer has provided furniture pads these items will be wrapped before placement on the truck.
  4. The loading crew will continue loading in tiers, moving left to right and top to bottom. The goal is to create a series of walls that fit well together without rope or straps. However, in some situations rope and/or straps may be required to secure the load. We recommend that you always have these items available for the movers just in case.
  5. After the main furniture pieces have been loaded the movers will traditionally use mattresses and box springs to wall off the entire section. It is recommended that you provide mattress bags or shrink wrap to protect mattresses.
  6. The loading process will finish with the remaining boxes, furniture pieces like couches and chairs as well as miscellaneous items.
