Good Idea:
If you are in a high rise or apartment complex with an elevator you should reserve your time slot early for reserved access. Make sure your time slot is appropriate for your situation.
Bad Idea:
Don't reserve an elevator and make your movers share with other building residents.
Good Idea:
Reserve your moving time slot for an appropriate time based on your situation. For example, if you're expecting your POD to be delivered between 9am and 12pm schedule for after 12pm to ensure the unit is on-site when the movers arrive.
Bad Idea:
Cross your fingers and hope everything goes as planned.
Good Idea:
If traveling outside of your local area and you're renting a truck, use Penske or Budget. Their trucks are newer, better maintained, priced the same as U-Haul and likely not to break down on you.
Bad Idea:
Book with U-Haul, wait in line for hours and run a 50/50 chance of breaking down or them not having your truck.
Good Idea:
Purchase plenty of packing supplies, tape and furniture pads to ensure a fast move. Remember, you can always return what you don't use.
Bad Idea:
Continually run out to the store to purchase supplies last minute. Not only will this make your move longer but because you cannot shop around you'll likely pay more than you should.
